Use of Inert Gas Systems

The course is designed to develop a fundamental understanding of the shipboard systems associated with the design and safe operations of inert gas systems in accordance with IMO “Guidelines for Inert Gas Systems”

On completion of the course, the trainee should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of principles, equipment and design of inert gas systems (IGS), associated procedures, safety features, applicable regulations and maintenance of plant and equipment.

Entry standards

For entry to the course the candidate should present:

  • Certificate of Competency or Certificate of Proficiency or educational diploma
  • Passport or Seaman’s Book or Seafarer’s Identity Document;
  • Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
