The 5th Meeting Of The Academic Advisory Committee (AAC) 24.11.2021
On November 24, 2021, the 5th meeting of the Academic Advisory Committee (AAC) was held, which was attended by the Head of the International Relations Service of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University and the Quality Specialist of the International Maritime Training Center.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Georgian Maritime Transport Agency, maritime universities, crewing and shipowner companies.
Tamara Ioseliani, Director of the Maritime Transport Agency, opened the meeting with a welcoming speech and highlighted the importance of the Committee's work in bringing the interests of employers and maritime educational institutions closer in the process of training competent and in-demand marine specialists.
As she said that the development of maritime education has been a priority of the state for years and care will be taken to strengthen this direction in the future.
"Every year, this format gives us the opportunity to understand the voice of the industry, their needs and tailor training and educational programs to the needs of employers," said Tamara Ioseliani.
The members of the committee discussed the changes made since the last meeting, the planned projects, as well as the current issues of maritime education and employment of Georgian seafarers. Particular attention was paid to the successful management of the rotation of Georgian seafarers during the pandemic with the involvement of the state.
The Academic Advisory Committee was established at the initiative of the Maritime Transport Agency in 2017 and provides coordinated work by representatives of the Agency, maritime educational institutions, training centers and major employers of Georgian seafarers.
